2.2 Installing HydraExpress

This release of HydraExpress is provided as a web download. For information on supported platforms, see the HydraSDO for XML README.txt located in the top-level directory of your installation.

This section describes how to install HydraExpress on Windows and Linux.


HydraExpress does not support path names with spaces. For example, an installation directory of "Program Files\Hydra Express" is not supported. When installing software, be sure to install in a directory without spaces.

2.2.1 Installing on Windows

  1. Download and execute the Windows installer.

  2. Follow the prompts:

    Accept the license agreement terms.

    b.

    Select the appropriate platform for your installation.

    c.

    Select a location for installation.


Note: On all Windows platforms, you must have administrative privileges to perform the install. In addition, you may need to disable any ad-ware or virus protection software that could block the execution of .bat scripts.

2.2.2 Installing on Linux

  1. Download and execute the Linux installer.

  2. (Optional) If you are installing the product into a directory that is not normally writable by non-privileged users, you must perform the following steps before continuing with Step 3:

    As the root user, create the directory into which the product will be installed.

    Change the ownership of that install directory; that is

  4. As a user without root privileges, execute the installer and follow the prompts:

    Accept the license agreement terms.

    b.

    Select the appropriate platform for your installation.

    c.

    Select a location for installation.

    Please note that this version of the HydraExpress installer does not allow you to install from one operating system onto another. For instance, you cannot install onto a Solaris machine from a Linux box.
