1.4 Assumptions

This manual explains how to use the Secure Sockets and HTTPS packages. It assumes that you are familiar with basic C++ programming and object-oriented design practices. To understand Part III, "HTTPS Package," you should also be familiar with the HTTP, Secure Sockets, and Functor packages. If you need more background on the underlying technology of this software, see the books and Web sites listed in Section B.2, "Protocols."

This manual assumes that you have completed the following steps:

  1. Set up your environment for your compiler. If you need assistance with this step, see your compiler documentation.

  2. Installed the Secure Sockets and HTTPS packages and their prerequisites, as listed in Section 1.3.2, "Installing the Packages."
