This chapter describes a use case involving a real estate application, and shows how to use XML streams to serialize out and read back in state information at application shutdown and restart. The example is a concise version of a series of examples in the Advanced Tools Module User's Guide. You can refer to that document for a more thorough discussion.
This example uses a small subset of the full capabilities of the Rogue Wave streams architecture. You are encouraged to read the Advanced Tools Module User's Guide to learn the many other ways that XML streams can be configured. In particular, be aware that the templatized objects and third party components for which you lack source code can also be serialized as an XML stream.
