3.3 Compiling the Examples

To compile and run the Tools.h++ Professional examples:

  1. From the Installed Parts folder on the Build Info tab, select Tools.h++ Professional_<ver>_<osfam> as the part you're working on. Click the Build button. The build dialog will appear on your screen.

  2. To build all the examples, select examples as the part you wish to build. You can also expand the examples tree structure to select specific examples to build.

  3. Select a configuration to build the examples. You must select a configuration for the examples that corresponds to the configuration of an existing set of Tools.h++ Professional libraries.

  4. After selecting a configuration, click OK. SPM will build the examples you selected.

Makefiles for the compiled examples are stored in the workspace directory structure described in Section 2.3.

NOTE TO ORBIX USERS: In addition to building the example programs, the makefiles for the dog, roster, and library examples also register the example server applications with your Orbix daemon. These makefiles assume that your Orbix daemon is running. If your daemon is not running, attempting to build the example programs will result in errors from the Orbix putit utility. Likewise, running make clean in these directories will attempt to de-register the server programs. if the Orbix daemon is not running, make clean will cause errors from the Orbix rmit utility. NOTE: Some of the examples require command-line arguments. See the README file in each of the examples directories for relevant usage information.
