Working with Zend Guard Loader

The Zend Guard Loader is a PHP extension that is used to run code that was encoded or obfuscated using Zend Guard. PHP code that was either encoded or obfuscated using the Zend Guard, or which is license restricted will only work if the Zend Guard Loader component is installed and enabled.

Note:

Zend Guard Loader is not supported by Zend Server with PHP version 5.4.

Tip:

To ensure optimal performance, if you do not require the Zend Guard Loader component, do not install it, or disable it.

Installing and Enabling the Zend Guard Loader

These procedures describe how to install and enable the Zend Guard Loader component depending on the Zend Server installation type.

Windows

From the list of installed programs in your Control Panel, select Zend Server, and click Change.
The Zend Server Installer is displayed.
Select Modify, and click Next.
The Custom dialog is displayed.
Under PHP, select Zend Guard Loader, and click Next.
The Zend Guard Loader is installed.
When the setup is completed, click Finish.
Open Zend Server, and go to Configurations | Components.
From the components list, select the Zend Guard Loader.
In the Action bar, click .
In the toolbar, the restart icon lights up , indicating a restart is needed to apply changes. Click to restart server and apply changes.

Linux and Mac OS X

In the UI, go to Configurations | Components.
From the components list, select the Zend Guard Loader.
In the Action bar, click .
In the toolbar, the restart icon lights up , indicating a restart is needed to apply changes. Click to restart server and apply changes.

Configuring the Zend Guard Loader

This procedure describes how to configure the Zend Guard Loader component. For more information of working with this component, see Working with Components.

Note:

Make sure you have installed the component before configuration. See installation instructions above.

To configure the component:

In the UI, go to Administration | Components.
From the Components list, select the component.
The Expanded view will display the directives associated with the component.
Review the assorted directives and their descriptions, and configure the component according to your personal preferences. For information on how to configure directives, see Working with Components.
In the Action bar, click .
In the toolbar, the restart icon lights up , indicating a restart is needed to apply changes. Click to restart server and apply changes.
