Profiling the Image Intensity
Profiles are a convenient way to view image data. Profiling helps you gain an understanding of how the image data varies in intensity along a specified cross-section. The WzImage Tool provides three methods for profiling data: endpoint, row, and column profiles.
Endpoint Profiling
The Endpoint Profile button on the button bar provides the greatest flexibility of the three profiling methods. Endpoint profiling allows you to choose two points anywhere within the image, and view the linear profile along the line joining the two points. To obtain an endpoint profile, do the following:
1. Select the Endpoint Profile button on the button bar. A Profile View dialog box appears.
2. Do one of the following:
*Press and drag MB1 to establish the first endpoint and the profile line. The profile view changes as MB1 is dragged. When MB1 is released the profile line is fixed, until the next time MB1 is pressed.
*Click MB1 to establish the first endpoint, then select <Control>-MB1 to define the second endpoint. The endpoint line appears between the two points and the linear profile of the image data is displayed in the Profile View dialog box. The profile is fixed until the next time MB1 is pressed.
Row Profiling
The Row Profile button on the button bar displays a horizontal profile whose endpoints are fixed along the left and right borders of the image.
1. Select the Row Profile button from the button bar. A Profile View dialog box appears.
2. Click MB1 to establish the horizontal line for the profile, or press and drag MB1 to interactively vary the row profile being displayed. When you release MB1, the horizontal profile line is fixed until you click (or click and drag) MB1 at a different location in the image.
Column Profiling
The Column Profile button works much like row profiling does, except it displays a vertical profile of the image data whose endpoints are fixed along the top and bottom edges of the image.
1. Select the Column Profile button from the button bar. A Profile View dialog box appears.
2. Click MB1 to establish the vertical line for the profile, or press and drag MB1 to interactively vary the column profile displayed. When you release MB1, the vertical profile line is fixed until you click (or click and drag) MB1 at a different location in the image.
