Plotting Dependent Versus Independent Variables

WzPlot allows you to plot one or more dependent variables against an independent variable. By default, the x-axis is taken as the independent axis, and the y-axis is the dependent axis.

Assume that you have two or more variables to plot, and that one of them is to be taken as the independent variable.

2. Select Defaults=>WzPlot. The Default VDA Tool Attributes dialog box appears.

3. Select Allow Independent Data.

5. Open the WzVariable Tool by clicking on it in the Navigator. Your variables are displayed in the WzVariable Tool.

6. In the WzVariable Tool, select the variables that you wish to plot in the following order: first, click on the variable that you wish to be the independent (x-axis) variable; next, shift-click on each variable you wish to plot against the independent variable. It is important that the independent variable be selected first; all subsequently selected variables are taken to be the dependent variables.

7. Open the WzPlot Tool by clicking on it in the Navigator. The dependent variables you selected are automatically plotted against the independent variable.

Again, assume that you have two or more variables to plot, and that one of them is to be taken as the independent variable.

2. Open the WzPlot Tool by clicking on its icon in the Navigator.

3. In the WzPlot Tool, select File=>Import Variables. The Variable Import dialog box appears.

4. Select a variable in the Select variable(s) to import from the following list list box, and use the arrow buttons to move the selected variable to either the X-Axis variables or Y-Axis variables list.

note	You can only put one variable in the X-Axis variables column, because the x-axis is taken to be the independent axis. You can place as many variables as you wish in the Y-Axis variables column (the dependent variables).

5. Click Apply or OK to plot the variables in the WzPlot Tool. (OK plots the variables and dismisses the Variable Import dialog box; Apply plots the variables without dismissing the dialog box.)

If you want to move a variable from the right-side columns back to the original column on the left, select the variable and click the $MAIN$<-- button. This moves the selected variable back to the original column on the left. To select multiple variables, hold down the Shift key and click on the variable names.
