Specifying Format Strings
You can set the format string for reading fixed format ASCII files. Format strings specify the format in which data is transferred as well as the data conversion required. You can specify format strings patterned after the ones used in the FORTRAN or C programming language.
To specify a format string to read fixed format ASCII data, do the following:
1. Select Attributes=>Fixed Format. This brings up the Fixed Format Attributes dialog box.
2. Use this dialog box to enter a C or FORTRAN format specifier.
